5 Perks: Juicing

Thursday 19 February 2015

Today I decided to blend up some procrastination induced juice. I threw together an apple, a carrot and a tomato and decided to see what happened. Surprisingly it actually (if we ignore the lumps) went quite well and it tasted incredibly good. Inspired by my new-found culinary genius I decided to see what all the fuss was about and find out why homemade juice is the new healthy bandwagon to jump on. Mum, if you're reading, I've finally found a use for that hand blender.

1. Overall it's just a hell of a lot better than all those cartons we reach for in the supermarket. It contains all the natural vitamins and minerals we need and has more antiviral elements.
2. Fruit already has quite a high sugar content. We don't need all those additives!
3. Most of the fiber in fruit is found in the skin. This is rarely found in commercial juice but making it yourself means you can pack in that extra fiber.
4. The more fruit and veg we consume the more energy we have! Juice is a super easy way to get in a couple of portions.
5. Think of the possibilities! You can experiment with all your favourite flavours and anything knocking around in the fridge. And of course there are endless juice recipes online if you'd rather stick to the tried and tested.

If you'd like to see a regular feature of juice recipes I try out, or anything else for that matter, then comment below because I'll definitely be whipping up some more! Do you have any favourites of your own to recommend?
